Richard Grimstad began his accounting career at GreerWalker LLP, one of the 10 largest CPA firms in the Charlotte region, in 2006 upon graduation from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting with a summa cum laude distinction.  He went on to complete a tax focused Master of Accountancy.  Richard left GreerWalker in June of 2019 and began his own accounting practice just one month later.

Richard is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (NC #33263) with over 14 years of experience providing tax planning and compliance services to individuals and privately held businesses.  His experience includes both domestic and international (both inbound and outbound) clients in a variety of industries, with a particular focus on those in the manufacturing and distribution areas.

Richard also has experience advising clients on a multitude of state and local tax issues, such as sales/use tax, property tax, multi-state tax matters, as well as various green and growing business incentives and credits.

In addition to actively serving on a number of local nonprofit boards, Richard has worked with a number of local nonprofit organizations, particularly focusing on the accounting function, and has helped to implement various accounting practices and policies to provide strength, stability and a platform for future growth.  He currently serves as treasurer for GoodYear Arts and his local neighborhood community association.

Richard sponsors two annual accounting scholarships at UNCC – a scholarship for non-traditional students in the Master of Accountancy program, as well as a diversity driven undergraduate accounting scholarship for marginalized communities. 2021 marks 10 years of supporting local accounting students. 

Richard is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants.  He is also a QuickBooks Online Advanced Certified ProAdvisor and has completed numerous training courses to assist your organization with its accounting and bookkeeping needs.
